I stumbled across Age-Friendly Institute just this week. The website claims that for 15 years they have been helping partnering companies to “deliver age-friendly programs and services that truly reflect the needs and wants of older adults” and hire workers 50+

To be certified, employers must:

  • Display work related (as versus age related) values
  • Support senior adults 50+ through company practicies, programs and policies
  • Value the same principles we expound here including maturity and experienced
  • Provide equal opportunities including compensation and benefits for those employees over 50

Certified companies benefit in several ways from their age friendly CAFE program. They can:

  • Broadcast that they welcome employees of all ages
  • Use their certification seal on websites and marketing materials
  • Receive industry data
  • Be invited to the annual conference which is scheduled in Boston, MA at the end of April, 2022

By my count, some 100 certified companies are listed on the website as of October, 2021. The step-by-step certification process is detailed there as well. It usually takes 2-3 weeks to be certified. So there’s still time to get certified and be invited to the conference.

Does your company or organization recognize the benefits of hiring experienced employees 50+?

Are you ready to tell the world that you offer work opportunities to senior adults 50+ eager to rejoin the workforce?

Find further details on their “Certified Age Friendly Employer™ Program” page.
