This past Wednesday the U.S. Labor Department reported there were still 11.3 million job openings in January. There are literally not enough workers in the U.S. to fill all of the available open positions.
As I have written prior, companies and organizations should turn to the millions of senior adults 50+ to fill these jobs.
It’s less of a risk for them and they can actually save time and investment in training since these workers are skilled and experienced. Plus with relaxation of the pandemic restrictions and increased opportunities to work at home, many of these retirees will be anxious to return to the workforce.
Companies can gain the many benefits these senior adult workers 50+ bring to the job. I have written about many of them prior, but it’s worth reminding you.
Older workers bring the wisdom and confidence they have gained through years of work experience. They are often more reliable than younger workers since they need less time off. Plus their heads are not buried in smartphones as they text throughout the day.
They are often excellent role models and can mentor and coach their juniors.
